Tzatziki Turkey Burgers

If you’re looking for an easy-to-make lean protein dinner idea, or your meal prep for the week, these Tzatziki Turkey Burgers are about to become a favorite in your kitchen. Perfectly seasoned turkey patties with fresh cilantro and onion paired with a tangy tzatziki sauce. This burger is a lighter, Mediterranean-inspired alternative to the classic beef burger. 

Ingredients (4 servings) 

Patties:  

  1. 1lb ground turkey 

  1. ½ medium onion (optional) 

  1. 1 handful cilantro or parsley (optional) 

  1. 2/3 cup breadcrumbs (100g) 

  1. 1 egg 

  1. 2 tsp garlic powder 

  1. 1 tsp cumin, and pepper 

Tzatziki (4 servings): 

  1. 1 cup plain yogurt 

  1. ½ cucumber, grated 

  1. Juice of ½ lemon 

  1. 1 tsp garlic powder (optional) 

  1. 1 tsp dried dill or 1 tbsp fresh dill (optional) 

  1. Salt and pepper to taste 

Burger:  

  1. 4 burger buns 

  1. Vegetables to top (tomato, lettuce, spinach, etc.) 

Steps 

1. Make the Tzatziki Sauce: 

  1. In a small bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, garlic, dill, and lemon juice. 

  1. Season with salt and pepper to taste. 

  1. Mix well, cover, and refrigerate until ready to serve. 

2. Prepare the Turkey Patties: 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, egg, breadcrumbs, cilantro, onion, garlic, cumin, salt, and pepper. 

  1. Mix gently until all ingredients are combined; avoid overmixing to keep the patties tender. 

  1. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties. 

3. Cook the Patties: 

  1. Heat a grill pan, skillet, or outdoor grill over medium heat. 

  1. Lightly grease the cooking surface with a small amount of oil. 

  1. Cook the patties for about 3 minutes on a high temp per side to sear, turn the heat down and cover until cooked through ot the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). 

4. Assemble the Burgers: 

  1. Toast the buns if desired. 

  1. Spread a generous layer of tzatziki sauce on the bottom bun. 

  1. Place the turkey patty on top, then add vegetable toppings. 

  1. Spread more tzatziki on the top bun and place it over the toppings. 

5. Serve: 

Serve immediately with a side of sweet potato fries, a salad, or your favorite side dish.
